Stuart's Thoughts 11/10/2016
“LOOK ON THE SUNNY SIDE”
“Come On Man”, Look on the sunny side after the presidential election of 2016. Let’s be optimistic about the future. Negative thinking can only cause further grief and anxiety. Haven’t we suffered through enough of that in the many months leading up to the election? Aren’t we tired of the press and news media putting us through a daily emotional ringer? Remember the important lesson, “The Power of Positive Thinking” taught by Norman Vincent Peale and how critical that attitude is to our health and general well-being. Let’s not listen to the nay sayers. Donald Trump will be our president for the next four years so let’s embrace that decision made by the American People, support him as best we can, and prey for the best.
No, I didn’t vote for Donald Trump because, as I’ve previously stated, I couldn’t accept his egomania and frequent breaking of the “Golden Rule”, something of utmost importance to me. Neither did I vote for Hillary Clinton because of that same reason but also because she was so deeply mired in a laundry list of corruption and demonstrated extremely poor judgement in handling crucial government business. So even though it’s said when you face such a choice, you should vote for what you believe to be the less of two evils, I simply couldn’t bring myself to make such a choice. I felt the more ethical position would be for me to leave that up to younger generations whose lives would be far more impacted than mine in the few years I have left.
So truthfully, how did I feel yesterday morning when I heard the results? I was not happy that Donald Trump won but I will honestly have to say I was happy to hear that Hillary Clinton lost. I didn’t think our country could bear 4 more years of corruption in Washington and traveling down the road in the wrong direction. So, why with Donald Trump at the helm should we look on the sunny side. That answer should be obvious. Regardless of a person’s political philosophy, we all want the same outcome, a strong successful nation with our people becoming the best that they each can be. Politics only describes different paths for reaching that outcome. Hopefully, Donald Trump will allow the presidency to change him for the better. It’s happened previously to others coming under the enormous weight of the U.S. presidency. At this point, we don’t know the intricacies of how the Trump Administration will lead us but why not hope and prey for the best and do everything we can to help that goal to be realized.
For your own health, be optimistic, look on the sunny side. The combined positive thinking of 350 million Americans can have a powerful effect.
