The items found on this blog were written during the past few years and strictly reflect my own opinions. Because these articles deal with difficult issues they are bound to be controversial. They reflect my personal analysis based on the limited information that I have. I am certainly no expert and fully respect different opinions. Difficult issues would not be difficult if there were clear-cut answers. Although you will see in reading some of my material, I don't like being pigeonholed with a label, I will admit to being politically independent with a tendency to be more conservative fiscally and slightly more liberal with regard to social issues. Having lived through the 1940's, I have a great appreciation for the sacrifices made by our armed forces and, in fact, all Americans during World War II. The greatness of this country shone bright as we rehabilitated and rebuilt our enemies after winning that war. I am very patriotic and proud of our country. While we are far from perfect, we're not as far from that ideal as most other countries in the world.

Stuarts Thoughts,  3/26/2015

Circus Update!

When I posted “Crisis Under The Big Top!” on jstuartfleming.blogspot.com last September, I knew we were in for some high voltage showmanship this election season but, even at that, I greatly underestimated the depths to which this spectacle would sink.  Amidst this TV entertainment bonanza for the networks we now find the Republican Party again in its familiar self-destruct role.  A flurry of so called political debates that more closely resemble 6th grade rumbles than serious comparisons of alternate political approaches to problem solving, is rapidly heading toward advancing a critically wounded nominee to face the democrats next fall.  At this point, Donald Trump is the frontrunner who the Republican establishment has labelled “unfit to be President” and apparently a high percentage off the American people agree with that assessment.

Meanwhile, the Democrats aren’t doing much better.  Their frontrunner, Hilary Clinton, has at the very least been reckless and, possibly worse in safeguarding top secret government documents.  In addition to this, she continues to reinforce her reputation as a long-term habitual liar.  This reached a disgusting peak, and crossed the line for many, when she knowingly gave false, politically expedient, information to the families of the Benghazi victims about the identity of those who killed them.

What the country needs most is a leader who engenders trust and confidence in the American people and who will keep the bus from going over the cliff as our national debt approaches $20 trillion.   Unfortunately, I see little hope in achieving that outcome.  But, there is always a ray of hope, regardless of how faint it may be.
