Defeat From Within ?
Throughout the first 72 years of my lifetime, I was always quite confident that national defense was one of the most important, if not the most important, priority for our country and was unanimously supported by its people and government. Regardless of political party, I was confident that every administration from FDR to George W. Bush would do everything in their power to keep The U.S. safe and to protect the country from the threats of those who would defeat us. It makes me very sad to say that I do not have that same confidence in the current administration in Washington, D.C.
I’m sad because I fear that I may be witnessing the early stages of the defeat of the nation that gave the world more hope and promise than ever previously achieved. The U.S. was the beacon for a brighter future recognized by peoples everywhere. We welcomed immigrants from all corners of the earth and only asked that they obey our laws, respect their fellow man and contribute, however possible, to an even brighter future. We withstood a variety of foreign assaults to our precious freedom. Our fathers and forefathers bravely defended our country, often sacrificing their own lives, to preserve this remarkable nation for their children and grandchildren. I am sad because I fear that all of this may be ending, and ending because of assault from within rather than from foreign shores.
In spite of serious reservations from before the 2008 elections regarding the presidency of Barack Obama, I made every effort to give him the benefit of the doubt. I honestly hoped that my initial instincts were wrong and that he would become a great president. In spite of his socialist leanings, I hoped that he would mellow and become an effective chief executive who would lead the two parties to compromise in an atmosphere of mutually agreeable governance. Clearly that has not happened. Rather, he has spearheaded a campaign characterized by disrespect and contempt for, not only the Republicans, but for any persons, groups or ideas, falling a fraction of an inch to the right of his socialistic ideology. He is a gifted orator and has focused, nearly full time, on campaigning and building contempt and resentment against his political foes. His success has largely depended on his skill and pension for misrepresenting the truth.1 He has used this to build a coalition of those who sincerely believed his charade of honesty and virtuosity along with a growing legion of poorly informed voters who only care about what their next handout will be.
His untruths and misconceptions are clearly out there for anyone wishing to take the time to look.2 He frequently uses fear mongering and bullying to misguide the public and counter his critics.3 Attempts to expose his devious tactics fall on deaf ears and are all but ignored by an obedient press and the large lemming-like follower segment of his supporters who makeup the rapidly expanding “nannyism class”. Freeing convicted illegal aliens, turning a blind eye to voter fraud, and continuing to tolerate porous borders are strategies he continues to use to further swell the ranks of his supporters. He may now be in a dominant position to bring about whatever further changes he has in mind for our country without the threat of any effective challenge.
An arrogant self-confidence and invulnerability are common traits often seen in political leaders who start down the shadowy road to dictatorship and tyranny. They view themselves as infallible, all knowing and unstoppable in the pursuit of their ideology. They belittle critics and eventually get to the point where they no longer tolerate criticism, punishing any who speak out against them.
Has our current president been tempted to explore the shadowy path? Recent White House threats and an apparent unyielding indifference to our massive national debt4 are, in my opinion, ominous signs. Threatening critics, including the press is an eerie sign of excessive government control. When an overwhelming majority of the American people realizes that excessive government spending is a critical problem that requires immediate attention, he is willing to forego fiscal responsibility and all but ignore the rapidly expanding out-of-control debt. Rather, he has chosen to utilize a strategy of hyperbole and fear related to the sequestration issue to make hay at the expense of his political opposition.5 As former Obama advisor Rahm Emanuel once suggested, never let a crisis go to waste by not using it to further your agenda.
To think that we may now have a president who is willing to deceive the public with misinformation, who threatens those who disagree with him and places his personal interests ahead of the interests of the nation is disappointing to say the least. After so many service men and women have sacrificed so much to successfully defend our country throughout the years from external aggression, are we about to fall from internal decay?

Now there is only one, and it is the worse one. Based on the persuasive testimony of ex-CIA boss David Petraeus, it is clear the Obama administration made a deliberate decision to mislead Congress and the American people. 2. Barack Obama has been proven by more than one fact checking organization to be a habitual liar. “I am told that Governor Romney’s new running mate, Paul Ryan, might be around Iowa the next few days,” he said while in Council Bluffs, Iowa. “He is one of the leaders of Congress standing in the way. So if you happen to see Congressman Ryan, tell him how important this farm bill is to Iowa and our rural communities.” House passed bill on August 2, 2012 (Paul Ryan voted yes) See more at: http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/fashion-shows/#sthash.KcZT3ukc.dpuf
3. Another member of the Washington political media stepped forward Thursday to claim he was threatened by the Obama White House, shortly after the White House denied reports that an adviser threatened famed Watergate journalist Bob Woodward. The latest claim comes from Lanny Davis, who served as counsel to former President Bill Clinton and later went on to write a column for The Washington Times. In a radio interview on WMAL, Davis said that a "senior Obama White House official" once called his editor at the Times and said that if the paper continued to run his columns, "his reporters would lose their credentials." 4. Obama’s debt denial - Posted by Jennifer Rubin on February 12, 2013 at 10:45 am, The Washington PostAmong the sillier positions the president has taken is the assertion that we are nearly done with debt reduction. How President Obama can assert this rubbish with a straight face while confronting a $16 trillion debt and warnings from every bipartisan commission, Medicare trustees and the Congressional Budget Office is an indication of how ensconced in the left-wing cocoon is the president.
5. Sequestration “will jeopardize our military readiness; it will eviscerate job-creating investments in education and energy and medical research,” President Barack Obama said at a news conference last week. “FBI agents will be furloughed. Federal prosecutors will have to close cases and let criminals go. Thousands of teachers and educators will be laid off.”
